On Friday the Auburn Tigers Men's Basketball team advanced to the Southeastern Conference tournament semifinals with a 86 to 55 win over the number fifteen ranked South Carolina Gamecocks.
Auburn was led by Johni Broome. Broome had 18 points and 10 rebounds in the blowout SEC quarterfinals victory.
Broome is a First Team All-SEC selection. He began his career at Moorehead State; but transferred to Auburn after his freshman year. Broome is 6 foot 10 inches tall and 240 pounds. He is from Plant City, Florida and attended Tampa Catholic High School. He can play both forward and center.
Eleven different Auburn players scored in the game.
Chaney Johnson scored 11 points and had three rebounds. Johnson is a transfer from UAH. He is 6 foot 7 inches and 220 points. He is from Alabaster, AL and went to Thompson High School.
K.D. Johnson scored 10 points and had five rebounds.
Auburn led South Carolina by twenty points at half time and never looked back.
Auburn is coached by Bruce Pearl. This is Pearl's tenth season at Auburn. He has 635 career wins.
Auburn will play Mississippi State Saturday in the SEC tournament semi-finals. The game will be televised at 12 noon on ESPN. The winner will go to the SEC tournament championship game.
