The Auburn Tigers 2024 football team will be at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday for the annual A-Day game. The game is at 1:00 P.M. and pits Auburn v. Auburn in a battle for playing time next fall and positions on Auburn's 2024 depth chart.
Coach Hugh Freeze is back for his second season on the Plains. After a somewhat disappointing 6 and 7 finish in 2023, Freeze has made a lot of changes to his coaching staff.
Derrick Nix will be the Offensive Coordinator and Running Backs coach.
DJ Durkin will be the Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers coach.
Charles Kelly will be the Co-Defensive Coordinator and Safeties coach.
Ben Aigamaua will coach the Tight Ends.
Josh Aldridge will coach the Defensive Edge (Defensive ends in older terminology).
Kent Austin will be the Quarterbacks Coach.
Marcus Davis will be the Wide Receivers Coach.
Vontrell King-Williams will coach the Defensive Tackles.
Wesley McGriff will coach the Cornerbacks.
Jake Thornton will be the Offensive Line Coach.
Prior to coming to Auburn, Freeze coached at Liberty University, Ole Miss, Arkansas State, and Lambuth University. He has a 101 and 45 record overall.
Game tickets start at just $10.
Senior Payton Thorne returns at quarterback for the Tigers. He will be pushed by freshman Walker White, sophomore Holden Geriner, junior Jackson Barkley, redshirt freshman John Colvin, and redshirt freshman Hank Brown.
Seniors Brian Battie and Jarquez Hunter are both back at running back. They will split playing time at the position with junior Damari Alston, sophomore Jeremiah Cobb, redshirt freshman Christian Burnette, and junior Justin Jones.
Notable returnees from the 2023 team include: receiver Koy Moore, cornerback Keionte Scott, receiver Jay Fair, offensive lineman Tate Johnson, offensive lineman Jeremiah Wright, tight end Luke Deal, and defensive lineman Zykevious Walker.
Football may be the main event; but it is not the only game in town this weekend in Auburn.
The Auburn baseball team will be in action in Plainsman Park against the number four ranked Tennessee Volunteers. The Friday and Saturday games are already sold out; but you can still purchase tickets for the Sunday game. Baseball begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The Auburn Softball team is hosting Louisiana Tech and Georgia Tech in the 2024 War Eagle Classic at Jane B. Moore Field. There are still tickets available for both days. Auburn plays Louisiana Tech at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, followed by Georgia Tech at 5:00 p.m. Saturday the Tigers play Louisiana Tech at 1:00 p.m. followed by Georgia Tech at 4:00 p.m.
The Auburn men's Tennis team will host the University of Alabama at the Yarbrough Tennis Center at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Auburn men's tennis team will be back in action on Sunday at noon with a match against Mississippi State. That will be followed by a match against Alabama A&M.
