  • Auburn falls at home to Vanderbilt

    Brandon Moseley|Nov 1, 2024

November 2, 2024 – AUBURN, AL - the good news for Auburn is that the team does not get blown out. They fight hard, hit hard, show incredible toughness, and are tied or leading late in the fourth quarter in most of their games. The bad news is that Auburn loses all those close games. Such was the experience of Auburn fans on the Plains Saturday. The game with the Vanderbilt Commodores was tied 7 to 7 for a long, long time and Auburn was down only 3 points – until Vanderbilt iced the game wit...

    Brandon Moseley|Nov 1, 2024

November 8, 2024 - MONTGOMERY – Auburn returned to its losing ways on Saturday when Vanderbilt came to the plains and completely shut out the Tigers in the second half. Alabama had a bye week as they prepared for week 11's matchup with LSU. Brandon L. Baker|Nov 1, 2024

November 12, 2024- Tuscaloosa, AL.- The University of Alabama Crimson Tide went into Baton Rouge Saturday night and defeated the LSU Tigers in dominating fashion with a 42-13 win that saw both sides of the ball perform well. It has been an inconsistent season for the Tide, but as of late they seem to have found their identity. The team has really committed to running the ball and utilizing the talents of quarterback Jalen Milroe. Saturday, he had game highs in both rushing yards and rushing...

  • With a Jewish quarterback leading the Cougars, Utah's rabbis have become rabid BYU football fans

Stacker, Kevin Reynolds for The Salt Lake Tribune|Nov 1, 2024

When the sun finally set, the three rabbis jumped in their car and sped down Interstate 15 to Provo, Utah. A Jewish quarterback was leading Brigham Young University against Kansas State, then the No. 9 team in the nation, under the lights of LaVell Edwards Stadium. Rabbis Avremi and Chaim Zippel and their brother-in-law Rabbi Moshe Nigri had to see it for themselves, The Salt Lake Tribune reports. And on that September night, they could. Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest, lasts from sundown on...

  • UAB loses to Connecticut – IN FOOTBALL

    Brandon Moseley|Nov 1, 2024

November 9, 2024- BIRMINGHAM – the University of Connecticut proved to be too much for the UAB Blazers in a football game that UAB led in in the fourth quarter. UAB dominated UConn for three quarters; but had no answers in a fourth quarters where the Blazers were outscored 21 to nothing. The final score was 31-23 and cements a second year in a row losing season for the Blazers and second year coach Trent Dilfer. UAB Quarterback Jalen Kitna threw for 233 yards and one touchdown; but it was his t...

  • Alabama Gazette staff has mixed results on November 9 games

    Brandon Moseley|Nov 1, 2024

November 9, 2020 – MONTGOMERY, AL. – the Alabama Gazette staff was divided on the Georgia and Ole Miss, South Carolina and Vanderbilt, and Alabama and LSU games. Sam was the only member of the panel to pick all six of the weeks games correctly. Some of us apparently underestimated Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss because they clearly were the better team that day. Alabama thoroughly dominated LSU in a game that we all thought would have been close. Brandon and Christopher made the mistake of pic...

  • Alabama Trounces Mercer in Tuscaloosa

    Brandon L. Baker|Nov 1, 2024

November 18, 2024- Tuscaloosa, AL- The Alabama Crimson Tide added another number to the win column on Saturday, when they defeated the 9-1 Mercer Bears 52-7. Prior to that the Bears were unable to move the ball in a game, in which Alabama only allowed 202 total yards and created 3 turnovers. The Tide juxtaposed the Bears output by putting up...

  • Auburn routs ULM

    Brandon Moseley|Nov 1, 2024

November 16, 2024 – AUBURN, AL – the Auburn University football team performed up to expectations in their rout of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The Tigers blew out ULM 14 to 48 at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday. Senior Running back Jarquez Hunter was too much for ULM's defenders to handle. Hunter, one of the best running backs in the nation, rushed for 102 yards on just 14 carries. Hunter passed a thousand yards on the season. Hunter has 3,185 yards in his Auburn career with two gam...

  • UAB football was uncompetitive against Army

    Brandon Moseley|Oct 1, 2024

The University of Alabama Birmingham Blazers football team went to Westpoint and were completely by the cadets of Westpoint. Most of the Army players will be officers in the U.S. Army within four years – some of them as soon as this time next year; but on Saturday they were the better athletes in this one sided matchup between them and the Blazers. Army destroyed UAB 10 to 44. The Black Knights are an American Athletic Conference opponent making the loss even more of a disaster. UAB won their o...

  • Alabama survives a four quarter war with South Carolina

    Brandon Moseley|Oct 1, 2024

October 12, 2024 – TUSCALOOSA – Tide fans got a little more than they bargained for when the South Carolina Gamecocks came to town and pushed Alabama hard for a four quarter slugfest that lasted literally all the way to the final play of the fourth quarter. The Alabama Crimson Tide survived a late comeback attempt by the Gamecocks to take away a narrow 25 to 27 win. Alabama was a 21-point favorite, so most football fans expected Bama to get out to a big lead in the first half and put away Sou...

  • Alabama and Tennessee underwhelm in Week 6

    Brandon Moseley|Oct 1, 2024

The Alabama Gazette panel did a horrible job picking games in week 6. None of our panelists predicted that number one in the nation Alabama would play such epically poor defense against the Vanderbilt Commodores. That combined with other upsets contributed to the worst week of football prognosticating this year. Sadly, Auburn has played so badly in 2024 that no one on the panel had picked Auburn to beat Georgia – and they didn't. The week six SEC games were: Missouri at Texas A&M – Texas A&M...

  • TROY at SOUTH ALABAMA - A Southern Rivalry Jaguars beat Trojans 25-9 in Battle for the Belt

    Trenton Garmon|Oct 1, 2024

October 15, 2024 - Mobile - South Alabama played well defeating Troy in Mobile in the Battle for the Belt 2024. The Troy-South Rivalry had a national TV audience via ESPN+. Troy officially is "tied" for the youngest team of starters in NCAA D1 football. Same is offered as a basis to understand the individual play and Coaching factors with the uniqueness of the greatest inexperience. Yet there should be no credit taken from South Alabama with regards to team play and exceptional sports play of...

  • Alabama Gazette staff picks performed better in Week 7

    Brandon Moseley|Oct 1, 2024

October 12, 2024 - The Alabama Gazette panel bounced back in Week 7 after a really bad Week 6. Alabama's performance versus South Carolina was disappointing; but they managed to come away with the win. Auburn took the week off to try to get right for the SEC home stretch. Georgia is continuing to work on its issues, while Texas thoroughly dominated its rival. The staff finished in a 5-way tie at 6 and 1 for the week. The SEC games in week 7 were: Vanderbilt 20, Kentucky 18 LSU 29, Ole Miss 26...

  • Alabama falls to Tennessee

    Brandon Moseley|Oct 1, 2024

October 19, 2024 – Knoxville – orange clad Volunteer fans were smoking cigars and singing 'Rocky Top' after the University of Tennessee football team bested the University of Alabama 17 to 24. For Tide head Coach Kalen DeBoer its been a rough introduction to SEC football. Just three weeks ago, Alabama was the number 1 team in the country. Then two road trips to Tennessee in the last three weeks happened. In the first, a trip up I-65 to Nashville to play Vanderbilt, resulted in Vanderbilt's fir...

  • UAB can't finish the deal against the University of South Alabama

    Brandon Moseley|Oct 1, 2024

October 19, 2024 – the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) football team played much better than in recent weeks; but it ultimately was not enough to overcome the tenacity of the University of South Florida (USF). UAB had a five point lead late in the fourth quarter; but UAB was ultimately overrun by a determined comeback by USF and lost 25 to 35. UAB was outscored 15 to 6 in the fourth quarter. UAB Quarterback Jalen Kitna had arguably his best game as a Blazer in the loss – completing 33...

  • Alabama Gazette panel has subpar week 8 in their SEC predictions

    Brandon Moseley|Oct 1, 2024

October 25,2024 - Week 8 of the Southeastern Conference was filled with disappointments. Alabama's playoff hopes hang by a thread after the Tide collapsed down the stretch and the dumpster fire that is Hugh Freeze's Auburn team continued a Missouri. Texas did not live up to their hype in Austin against Georgia. The Alabama Gazette panel (with some notable exceptions) predicted that Auburn would lose; but were burned by the Alabama, Kentucky, and Texas losses. The SEC games of the week were: Aubu...

    Brandon Moseley|Oct 1, 2024

  • Auburn comes back from a slow state to defeat Kentucky for the Tigers' first SEC win

    Brandon Moseley|Oct 1, 2024

October 26, 2024 – LEXINGTON, KY - the Auburn University football team defeated the Kentucky Wildcats 10 to 24 after trailing 10 to nothing in a game that was not really that close. Auburn has not been horrible this year. Arguably this is the most talented Auburn team that has taken the field in these last four years since the powers that be at Auburn inexplicably let go of Gus Malzahn. At points in every game these Auburn Tigers have played very good football – but they just have not done it...

  • Tide dominates Missouri

    Brandon L. Baker|Oct 1, 2024

October 26, 2024- TUSCALOOSA, AL.- The University of Alabama Crimson Tide got back in the win column with a 34 to 0 win over the Tigers of Missouri in week nine of the college football season. The Tide have not met the expectations of many this season, but they showed a determined effort against the #21 ranked tigers. The running game has been lacking for the majority of this campaign but there was an obvious emphasis Saturday on incorporating the ground game into the game plan. Coach Kalen...

    Brandon Moseley|Oct 1, 2024

Auburn had by far their most complete game of the season thus far and gained their first Southeastern Conference win when they defeated Kentucky. Alabama bounced back from a disappointing trip to Knoxville with a stellar performance at home against Missouri. The SEC games of the week were: Ole Miss at Oklahoma – Ole Miss won 26 to 14 Arkansas at Mis...

    Brandon Moseley|Oct 1, 2024

November 1, 2024 - MONTGOMERY - Alabama has a bye week as they prepare for an epic showdown with LSU. The loser of that game will almost certainly not be in the playoffs. The SEC games of the week are: Ole Miss at Arkansas Vanderbilt at Auburn Georgia and Florida at Jacksonville Maine at Oklahoma Massachusetts at...
